Franschoek, one of the most beautful areas witin the Western Cape and one of the first mini-vacays we did since coming back to South Africa. Packed with farms stalls, wine farms and the most beautiful mountains, we felt removed from the hustle and bustle of the city. It felt really good to escape to somewhere remote, coming from Hong Kong, where we havent been able to travel for over 3 years now. We were not, however, prepared for the cold that came with staying out in the mountains but luckily we had enough farm jackets and fireplaces wherever we went which made sure we kept warm and toasty.
We stayed at one of the cottages nestled in the orange orchids at Boschendal estate. The cottages are all self catering and equipped with massive fireplaces both inside the cottage and out. Perfect for the cold winter evenings. You can see more of the gorgous cottages and accommodation on the Boschendal webiste, https://www.boschendal.com/accommodation/.
There is so much to do around the Franschoek region, but one of our favourite things is to take a stroll through Babylonstoren, https://babylonstoren.com, a wine estate with rows and rows of fruit, vegitables and local fauna and flora growing.
We had such an amazing time, and it was so special to spend a solid few days with our much loved and missed friends. We have felt so grateful to have been able to come back to South Africa and visit, especially with our new crew member, Oliver!
