Virgin Rooibos Ice Tea Cocktail

Oh Hey Cindy - Virgin Ice Tea Recipe

The holiday season is over, and if you’re anything like me, you probably had a few too many glasses of wine. Going into the new year, I want to drink less alcohol and so I have been experimenting with some delicious virgin cocktails.

If you are from South Africa, you will be familiar with Rooibos (Red Tea), the absolute MVP in my opinion when it comes to tea. Rooibos has a naturally sweet, honey, vanilla kind of flavour and works well served hot or cold. This also makes it the perfect base for a virgin cocktail.

I’ve added the recipe below, including a video on how to make it. It’s super easy, and tastes amazing! Hope you enjoy!

Recipe

Ingredients

  • Rooibos Teabags x6
  • Hot Water
  • Mint
  • Agave Syrup
  • Pomegranate Seeds
  • Edible Flowers (Optional)

Method

  1. Add rooibos teabags to a measuring jug and add 500ml water.
  2. Add fresh mint to hot tea.
  3. Allow the tea to steep with mint. The longer you steep, the stronger the flavour will be.
  4. Strain the tea and decant into a bottle and store in the fridge.
  5. Once the tea is cooled, you can assemble your cocktail.
  6. Add ice, fresh mint and pomegranate seeds to your cocktail glass.
  7. Pour ice tea and garnish with edible flowers.
  8. Enjoy!
